Amy Reynolds is dean of the College of Communication and Information at Kent State University, a position she has held since 2015. She received a bachelor's degree in English writing from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree in journalism from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Texas at Austin. Before her career in higher education, Reynolds worked as a reporter, producer, managing editor and news director at news organizations including the Erie Daily Times and WSEE-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Orlando Sentinel, College Press Service and Generation X Press in Orlando, Florida, and WTIU Public Television in Bloomington, Indiana. She later served on the faculty at the University of Oklahoma, Miami University of Ohio, and Indiana University, where she was associate dean for research and graduate studies from 2006 to 2010, before moving to Louisiana State University's Manship School of Mass Communication as associate dean for graduate studies and research and director of the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs. Her research focuses on dissent, the First Amendment and media sociology, and she has authored or co-authored seven books, including the widely used textbook The Law of Journalism and Mass Communication.
