These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Newsjunkie.net website, content, and any related newsletters or services (collectively, the "Services"). Dharma Road, Inc. (a Delaware corporation) wholly owns these Services. By using the Services, you agree to these Terms.
"Newsjunkie," "we," "our," and "us" mean the publisher and team operating Newsjunkie.net. "You" means the individual or entity using the Services.
Newsjunkie is a web-based resource guide for journalists and readers that publishes information about news organizations, media ownership, people, and related resources. It also publishes interviews, blogs, articles of commentary and analysis, and a newsletter. The Services are informational and editorial in nature.
You may use the Services only if you can form a binding contract with us and are at least 13 years old. At this time, the Services do not require user accounts. If we enable accounts in the future, additional terms may apply.

If you submit tips, corrections, links, or other materials ("Submissions"), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable, and transferable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, and display those Submissions in connection with the Services and our archives.
You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your Submissions do not infringe the rights of any third party. You are solely responsible for your Submissions. We may, but are not obligated to, use or respond to Submissions.
All content on the Services is owned by Dharma Road Inc. (dba Newsjunkie) or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may link to our pages or quote brief excerpts with clear attribution and a link back to the source page. Any other reproduction, distribution, or adaptation requires our prior written permission unless a statutory exception (such as fair use) applies. Third-party materials on the site are used under license, permission, or applicable exceptions; rights remain with their respective owners.
The Services contain links to third-party sites and resources. We do not endorse or assume responsibility for their content, policies, or practices. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement or accuracy.
The services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. Editorial content reflects the views of the authors. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any content, including third-party content, and disclaim liability for reliance on it.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our directors, officers, employees, contributors, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, arising out of or in connection with the services or these terms, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the services shall not exceed the greater of (a) usd $1,000 or (b) the amounts you paid to us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
This cap does not apply to our gross negligence, willful misconduct, or infringement of your intellectual property rights.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to your Submissions, your use of the Services, or your violation of these Terms.
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe material on the Services infringes your copyright or trademark, please send a notice containing: (a) your contact information; (b) identification of the work or mark claimed to be infringed; (c) identification of the material claimed to be infringing and its location on the Services; (d) a statement of good-faith belief that use is not authorized; (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf; and (f) your physical or electronic signature.

We may modify the Services or these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will post an updated effective date and reasonably attempt to provide advance notice where feasible. Your continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Services are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflicts-of-law principles. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California for the resolution of any claim not subject to arbitration or another mandatory forum under applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, for any reason. Upon termination, Sections 4–13 survive.

This Privacy Policy explains how Newsjunkie processes information about visitors to Newsjunkie.net and subscribers to our newsletter (collectively, the "Services").
At a glance: we aim to collect as little personal data as possible. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Newsletter sign-up: If you subscribe, we collect your email address. We use it to send you the newsletter and related updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails.
Corrections, tips, and correspondence: If you email us or submit feedback, we process the contact details and message content you provide.

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above—for example, while you remain subscribed to the newsletter or as needed to respond to correspondence—unless a longer period is required by law. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and diagnostics.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries with different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
