Anthony Y.H. Fung is a professor in the School of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and dean of CUHK's Faculty of Social Science. He holds a bachelor's degree from CUHK and a master's degree and PhD from the University of Minnesota. His research and teaching focus on digital communication, popular culture, and cultural and creative industries and policy, with particular attention to television, comics and animation, online games, and youth culture in Asia. He is also a professor and director of the Centre for Digital Content and Creative Media in the School of Arts and Communications at Beijing Normal University, co-director of CUHK's Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, and editor-in-chief of the journal Global Media and China. He has served on the Board of Advisors of Radio Television Hong Kong since 2018 and was a member of the Hong Kong government's Standing Committee on Language Education and Research from 2019 to 2021. He was named a Justice of the Peace and has held visiting professorships including the Buffett Visiting Professorship at Northwestern University's Buffett Institute for Global Affairs.
