Antioch Herald

The Antioch Herald is a local news website and, when resources allow, print newspaper covering the city of Antioch in eastern Contra Costa County, California, published and edited by Allen Payton.

Payton and the same leadership team had previously produced the Antioch Press, a direct-mailed citywide newspaper published from 2001 to 2005. After a five-year hiatus, the Antioch Herald launched online in October 2010 and expanded to a print edition mailed monthly to Antioch homes and businesses starting in May 2011. Reduced advertising revenue tied to the COVID-19 pandemic led the Herald to suspend regular print publication in 2021, after which it has continued primarily as an online news source.

The Herald covers Antioch city government, policing, schools, elections, and community life, including recurring East County regional coverage shared with neighboring communities.

News is published free on antiochherald.com, with readers invited to submit letters, tips, and photos to the newsroom; historical Antioch newspapers, including predecessor titles, are separately archived by the Contra Costa County Library.
