The Butler County Banner-Republican, also known as the Butler County Banner and the Green River Republican, is a weekly newspaper based in Morgantown, Kentucky, serving Butler County and surrounding communities including Aberdeen, Rochester and Woodbury.
The paper's roots trace to 1885 and its predecessor, the Green River Republican, which was the sole newspaper covering Butler County for about 97 years until Roger and Deborah Givens founded the rival Butler County Banner as a weekly in November 1982. Jobe Publishing, Inc., based in Horse Cave, Kentucky, acquired the Banner-Republican in February 1998, marking founder Jeff Jobe's debut as a newspaper publisher. Printing was relocated to Jobe's Horse Cave-based Cave Country Printshop in 2004.
The Banner-Republican is the flagship weekly of Jobe Publishing's network of south-central Kentucky newspapers, which also includes the Barren County Progress, Hart County News-Herald, Metcalfe County Herald-News, Monroe County Citizen, Cumberland County News and Edmonson News.
