Black Press Media (formerly Black Press Group Ltd.) is a Canadian and U.S. newspaper and commercial printing company headquartered in Surrey, British Columbia.
Founder David Holmes Black sold the company through a January 2024 CCAA creditor-protection process. Carpenter Media Group completed its acquisition of Black Press Media in March 2024 in a stock purchase involving Canadian institutional investors Canso Investment Counsel, Ltd. and Deans Knight Capital Management. Canadian operations remain under Canadian majority ownership per Canadian media regulation; Carpenter Media Group actively manages the company's operations.
Black Press was founded in 1975 by David Holmes Black, who purchased the Williams Lake Tribune in British Columbia for $60,000.
