Insider Inc. (formerly Business Insider Inc.) is a New York-based digital media company, publisher of Business Insider.
In September 2024, Axel Springer SE announced a corporate restructuring splitting its classifieds businesses from its media businesses. Under the completed split, Axel Springer's classifieds units (including Stepstone and AVIV Group) are majority owned by the private equity firm KKR and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, while its media assets — including Insider Inc./Business Insider, Bild, Die Welt, and Politico — are held by a new private company valued at roughly €3.5 billion and owned approximately 95 percent by Friede Springer (widow of founder Axel Springer) and CEO Mathias Döpfner. Jeff Bezos, through Bezos Expeditions, has held a minority stake in the Business Insider business since a 2013 investment.
Business Insider was founded in 2007 by Henry Blodget and Kevin P. Ryan. Axel Springer acquired an 88 percent stake in Business Insider Inc. in September 2015 for $343 million.
