Dana Point Times is a weekly community newspaper covering Dana Point, California, published as part of the Picket Fence Media group of South Orange County publications.

History

Dana Point Times was launched by Picket Fence Media, founded in 2006 by media executive Norb Garrett, whose company also publishes the San Clemente Times and The Capistrano Dispatch. Picket Fence Media earned nearly 100 editorial awards over its history, including its first-ever California Journalism Award for General Excellence in print for Dana Point Times in 2022. In August 2023, Tempe, Arizona-based Times Media Group, founded by Steve Strickbine in 1997, acquired Picket Fence Media, adding its three South Orange County titles to a portfolio of more than 35 weekly publications across Arizona and Southern California.

Notable works

Picket Fence Media publications have collectively won multiple California News Publishers Association Journalism Awards for their coverage of the Dana Point, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano communities.
