Charles F. "Chuck" Goodrich is chief executive officer of Newspapers of New England, Inc., the family-owned parent company, in operation since 1888, of daily newspapers including the Concord (NH) Monitor, the Valley News (Lebanon, NH), the Daily Hampshire Gazette (Northampton, MA), the Greenfield (MA) Recorder and the Athol (MA) Daily News. He holds a bachelor's degree in history and government, magna cum laude, from Bowdoin College and an MBA in marketing from Harvard Business School. Goodrich has spent roughly four decades in the New England newspaper industry, beginning his career as a publisher and marketing director at Harte Hanks, where he helped the company expand into newspapers by acquiring independent titles in Boston's MetroWest and Northwest suburbs in the early 1980s. He went on to lead North and North Shore titles at Community Newspaper Company, a Fidelity Investments division that grew to nearly 100 Massachusetts newspapers, and continued in senior roles as the company changed hands to Boston Herald owner Pat Purcell and later to GateHouse Media, where he served as regional president and vice president of sales and marketing for more than a dozen years. He was named CEO of Newspapers of New England in 2021, succeeding Aaron Julien, who moved into the chairman role. In 2022 he was inducted into the New England Newspaper & Press Association Hall of Fame.
