Biography

John Hiner is president of MLive Media Group, which is connected to Advance Local and Condé Nast and operates MLive.com along with eight Michigan newspapers. He has more than 40 years of experience as a reporter and editor, including earlier service as vice president of content for MLive Media Group. In February 2023, in his role overseeing content, he announced that Advance Local's Michigan newspapers, including MLive's eight affiliated papers, would drop the Dilbert comic strip following racist remarks by creator Scott Adams. Hiner continues to write a regular column for MLive on media, sports, and current events.
