Huntsman Family Investments is a private equity firm managed by the Huntsman family. Paul Huntsman serves as the president and CEO of the firm.
HFI purchased the Salt Lake Tribune in 2016 from Alden Global Capital. Mr. Huntsman moved to convert the paper from print to digital and to a nonprofit entity— “the first legacy daily newspaper in the nation to receive this status.,” according to Huntsman.
On February 2, 2024, Mr. Huntsman stepped away from the paper as chair. It continues to function as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
Tom Love, a Salt Lake City advertising executive, is current chair.
