Iowa State University is a public land-grant research university in Ames, Iowa.
Journalism at Iowa State is housed in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Founded in 1905, the school was among the first journalism programs accredited by ACEJMC in 1948 and is one of the longest continuously accredited programs in the country. It offers majors in advertising, journalism and mass communication, public relations, sports media and communication, and digital storytelling.
Iowa State was established on March 22, 1858, as the Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm. Iowa was the first state to accept the provisions of the 1862 Morrill Act, and the college was designated the state's land-grant institution in 1864. It was renamed Iowa State University of Science and Technology in 1959.
