Lake City Reporter is a newspaper based in Lake City, Florida, published Wednesday, Thursday and a combined Saturday/Sunday weekend edition, covering Columbia County and surrounding North Florida communities.
The paper was founded in 1875 by C.A. Finley as a county weekly. J.M. Dodd, a Kentucky newspaperman who had been imprisoned at Johnson's Island during the Civil War, purchased the paper in 1889 and grew its circulation until his death in 1890. The New York Times Company bought the Lake City Reporter in 1972. Community Newspapers, Inc., based in Athens, Georgia, purchased the paper in September 2000.
