The Lane Report is a monthly business and economic development news magazine covering Kentucky, published by The Lane Report, Inc. It is the flagship publication of Lane Communications Group, which also produces the annual Kentucky Market Review and Health Kentucky magazines and The Bourbon Flight.
Ed Lane founded The Lane Report in 1985 as a black-and-white biannual flyer providing economic profile information to clients of his Central Kentucky commercial real estate firm. The publication moved to a quarterly schedule, then six times a year, and became a monthly full-color magazine; its editorial coverage expanded statewide in 1997. Ed Lane died in August 2015 after a battle with cancer; his children, including Brett Lane, carried on the company until Kevin O. Stinnett became publisher and owner in 2020.
