Livermore Vine is a nonprofit, independent digital news source covering Livermore, California, part of the Tri-Valley region, published by Embarcadero Media Foundation.

History

Embarcadero Media, founded as The Embarcadero Publishing Company in 1979 by William Johnson, began planning the Livermore Vine more than three years before its 2021 launch but paused the project during the COVID-19 pandemic. The site launched in October 2021 as a 24/7 online news source, with Cierra Bailey, a Livermore native and past reporter for the Pleasanton Weekly and Palo Alto Weekly, recruited as founding editor. Gina Channell Wilcox has served as president and publisher of Embarcadero Media's East Bay Division, which includes the Livermore Vine, since 2006. In November 2023, Embarcadero Media announced its transition to nonprofit status amid declining advertising revenue, becoming Embarcadero Media Foundation.
