Biography

Jerry Lockspeiser is a director and treasurer of Positive News, a UK-based reader-owned magazine and website focused on constructive journalism, responsible for its financial oversight and strategic business planning. His career has primarily been in the wine industry: he founded Vinceremos Wines, an early importer of organic and Third World wines, and Bottle Green Ltd., a supplier of international wines to major UK retailers, and chaired Off Piste Wines for ten years before becoming chairman of North South Wines, a UK wine distributor. He studied social science at the University of York and holds a master's degree in African studies from the University of Edinburgh. He created the Millione wine brand, whose profits funded the building of five primary schools in Sierra Leone in partnership with the charity ActionAid, and writes a column for the trade publication Harpers Wine & Spirit. He is the author of two books, the Thorsons Organic Wine Guide and Your Wine Questions Answered: The 25 Things Wine Drinkers Most Want to Know.
