Mariusz Kolczyński is a Polish political scientist and professor at the Institute of Political Science and Journalism (formerly the Institute of Journalism and Media Communication) at the University of Silesia in Katowice. He defended his doctoral dissertation, on feature film as a medium of political propaganda, on May 30, 1995, and completed his habilitation on July 1, 2008, with a thesis on political communication strategies. He has also held teaching appointments at the Górnośląska Wyższa Szkoła Handlowa (Upper Silesian School of Commerce) and the Wyższa Szkoła Pedagogiczna TWP in Katowice. His research and publications focus on political marketing and communication strategy in Polish election campaigns. He is the author of Marketing polityczny (2000) and Strategie komunikowania politycznego (2007), and co-author, with Marek Mazur, of Wojna na wrażenia (2007) and Broń masowego wrażenia (2009), both analyzing Polish parliamentary and presidential campaigns. He has edited multiple volumes on Polish election campaigns and media coverage of Polish and European Parliament elections, including studies for the National Science Centre (NCN) on media coverage of Poland's 2011 EU Council presidency.
