Metroland Media is the result of a 1981 merger of Metrospan Community Newspapers (a Torstar division) and Inland Publishing, resulting in Torstar’s new division Metroland Media Group. The media group published 25 community newspapers until 2023, when the group declared bankruptcy and moved all of the community newspapers to an exclusively online presence.
