William S. "Will" Morris IV is chief executive officer of Morris Communications Company, succeeding his father, William S. Morris III, in July 2015 and becoming the third generation of the Morris family to lead the media company his grandfather, William S. Morris Jr., began building in 1945. He joined the family business in 1990 as assistant to the publisher of the Athens Banner-Herald/Daily News and general manager of Athens magazine, later serving as general manager of The St. Augustine Record in Florida before returning to Athens as publisher in 1992. He became president of Morris Communications in 1996, and in 2001 was named president and CEO of the newly formed Morris Publishing Group, the subsidiary handling the company's newspaper division, guiding it through a 2010 bankruptcy reorganization. In 2013 he became CEO of Morris Venture Capital, a captive fund established to identify and nurture growing businesses. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Emory University.
