History

Traces to the bilingual Natchitoches Union, founded in 1859 by French political exile Ernest Le Gendre; renamed the Natchitoches Times by successor Louis Dupleix in 1864. The current masthead dates its first publication to March 13, 1903, by Cunningham & Co. It became a daily (except Sundays and Mondays) starting Jan. 27, 2004, before shifting to its present twice-weekly schedule.

Notable works

Maintains a paid circulation of approximately 5,800 copies. Reported on U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy securing $5.7 million in federal funding for the city's Safe Streets and Roads for All program.
