Owner and Publisher, a chain of newspapers in New Jersey
Cortlandt Parker (1921-2002) was an American newspaper owner and publisher in New Jersey. Born to Major General Cortlandt Parker (1884-1960) and Elizabeth Gray of Boston, he was a member of a family long prominent in New Jersey law and public life, descended from colonial newspaper publisher James Parker (1714-1770) and attorney and American Bar Association president Cortlandt Parker (1818-1907). He was a veteran of World War II. He went on to become the owner and publisher of a chain of newspapers in New Jersey. He died on August 7, 2002, at age 80, according to an obituary published by New Jersey Hills Media Group, the Whippany, New Jersey-based news organization. His younger brother, James Parker (1924-2001), was a curator of European decorative arts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
