Zhou Qing'an is dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University in Beijing, where he earned his Ph.D. in 2006 and has taught public diplomacy, global communication theory and comparative international journalism. He directed the International Herald Leader at Xinhua News Agency from 2002 to 2005, and has served as a columnist and editorial writer for Beijing News, Southern Metropolis Daily and Guangzhou Daily, and as a special commentator for CCTV and China Radio International. He is deputy editor-in-chief of Global Media Journal (Chinese) and deputy editor of Public Diplomacy Quarterly. Zhou was a Visiting Scholar to the U.S. State Department in 2008 and a Global Leading Visitor selected by the department that year. He co-authored Soft Power and Global Communication and Internet Journalism: An Introduction, and authored Global Public Diplomacy Research.
