Redlands, California, USA
Redlands Daily Facts is a paid daily newspaper covering Redlands, Mentone, Loma Linda and East Highlands, California. It is a member of Southern California News Group, a division of Digital First Media, which is owned by hedge fund Alden Global Capital.
Began as a weekly on Oct. 23, 1890, founded by Edgar F. Howe. William Graff Moore, a Civil War veteran, later ran the paper before passing it to his son Paul W. Moore, who joined it to the Associated Press in 1901. After Paul Moore's death in 1942, his sons Frank E. Moore (editor) and William "Bill" G. Moore (publisher) ran the paper until selling it to Donrey Media Group in 1981 -- the last family-owned daily in the county at that time. On Jan. 13, 1999, Donrey merged the Daily Facts and nine other California papers into Garden State Newspapers, owned by MediaNews Group, alongside the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and The San Bernardino Sun. The paper became part of the Los Angeles News Group, later renamed Southern California News Group following Digital First Media's 2016 acquisition of Freedom Communications.
