Arup Kumar Sarkar is a director and former chief editor of India's ABP Group, the Kolkata-based media conglomerate that publishes Anandabazar Patrika and The Telegraph and operates the ABP News television network. The younger brother of Aveek Sarkar and son of Ashok Kumar Sarkar, he began working in the family business in 1963, taking responsibility for its business operations while his brother led editorial affairs. He previously served as chief editor of the group's Bengali magazines and, in 2016, became chief editor of ABP News Network following Aveek Sarkar's departure as chief editor of the group's flagship newspapers. Sarkar holds director positions across several group entities, including ABP Private Limited, ABP Holdings Private Limited, ABP News Network Private Limited and Sarkar Consultants Private Limited. In July 2021, his son Atideb Sarkar was appointed chief editor and publisher of ABP Private Limited, with Arup Sarkar moving into an advisory role described by the company as "nestor."
