SB Nation (full name SportsBlogs Nation) is a sports media network of more than 180 fan-focused community sites covering professional and college teams and leagues. As of mid-2026 it operates under PMX Global, a Penske Media Corporation subsidiary.
Traces to Athletics Nation, a single-team blog covering the Oakland Athletics that Tyler Bleszinski started in 2003; sourcing varies on whether the broader SportsBlogs Nation network formed that same year or by 2005, but co-founders are consistently identified as Bleszinski, Markos Moulitsas and Jerome Armstrong. Parent company SportsBlogs Inc. rebranded as Vox Media in October 2011, coinciding with the launch of sister site The Verge. James Murdoch's Lupa Systems acquired roughly half of Vox Media, including Vox.com, New York Magazine and Vox's podcast network, around May 2026. On June 18, 2026, Penske Media Corporation announced it was acquiring the remaining Vox Media brands, including SB Nation, The Verge, POPSUGAR, The Dodo, Punch and Thrillist, along with Vox's Concert ad marketplace and Forte data platform, housing them in a new subsidiary, PMX Global.
Received a National Magazine Award (Ellie) in the Digital Innovation category in 2018 for Jon Bois' serialized speculative fiction narrative 17776. Was a finalist in the Shorty Awards' fansite category in 2015.
