Biography

Stacey Mullen grew up in the Gorbals area of Glasgow and attended St John's Primary School there; no university alma mater is documented in available public sources. She has more than 15 years of experience in journalism, working across a series of local weekly titles including the Cumbernauld News, Kilsyth Chronicle, Kirkintilloch Herald, Milngavie and Bearsden Herald, Motherwell Times and Bellshill Speaker before joining the Glasgow Times, then still known as the Evening Times, as crime reporter, a role she has described as the one she is most proud of. She went on to serve as assistant editor of the paper.

As part of a restructuring of Newsquest's Scottish titles, Mullen was named editor of the Glasgow Times, alongside the appointments of Laura Webster as editor of The National and Stewart Ward as managing editor of both titles' print editions and editor of the Sunday National; all three report to Callum Baird, editor-in-chief of Newsquest Scotland. Announcing the appointment, Baird said Mullen had “done a brilliant job in driving the traffic of the Times,” which had “retaken its place as the number one news site in Newsquest.” Mullen, describing herself as “a proud Glaswegian,” said it was “a huge honour” to edit a paper she had “adored reading since I was a little girl.” She currently edits the Glasgow Times along with several of Newsquest's Greater Glasgow weekly titles, including the Renfrewshire and Paisley Gazette, Clydebank Post, Barrhead News and Dumbarton Reporter.
