Tablet is a standalone quarterly print magazine of long-form journalism, photo essays and criticism on Jewish life and culture, published as an extension of the online Tablet magazine and its parent nonprofit, Nextbook Inc.
The print edition launched with a debut issue timed to Hanukkah, publishing its first regular issue in June 2025, edited by Lorin Stein, formerly editor of The Paris Review. Tablet editor-in-chief Alana Newhouse said the decision to launch a print magazine came in part from a younger-reader focus group in which nearly every participant said they wanted a print product. Design firm Pentagram created the magazine's visual identity, working closely with Newhouse and the editorial team; the launch cover was hand-painted by designer James Victore. Regular sections include "The Ten," a discussion among ten Jewish contributors on a single topic, inspired by the minyan prayer quorum, and "Not Jewish," a closing essay on a subject a given writer considers definitively unrelated to Jewish identity.
