Biography

Teresa Bird is a Vancouver Island, British Columbia, newspaper publisher whose career in community journalism spans more than four decades. She began her career as a journalist in Ucluelet, British Columbia, and went on to serve as publisher and editor of the North Island Gazette in Port Hardy, which was voted best all-round newspaper in its circulation category by the Canadian Community Newspaper Association in 2010. Since May 2011, Bird has served as publisher of the Alberni Valley News in Port Alberni, part of the Black Press Media group, overseeing the paper's news, sports and business coverage for the Alberni Valley community.
