After Jerry Finkelstein's passing, the ownership of The Hill was transferred to his son, James A. Finkelstein and John Solomon, a veteran journalist.
James A. Finkelstein is the current CEO and chairman of Capitol Hill Publishing.
In 2021, Nexstar Media Group bought The Hill for $130 million. Nexstar is the largest owner of television stations in the U.S.
The business model of The Hill is subscription based, both domestically and internationally. The daily print edition is distributed free of charge around Washington D.C. and congressional offices.
The Hill has a vigorous social media presence. Its Youtube Channel has more than one million subscribers.
