Biography

Willow Bay is a broadcast journalist and the first female dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, a position she has held since 2017, also holding the Walter H. Annenberg Chair in Communication. Born Kristine Carlin Bay in New York City, she holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business. Her broadcast career includes serving as the first woman to co-anchor CNN's flagship daily financial news program Moneyline, co-anchoring ABC News' Good Morning America/Sunday and reporting for Good Morning America and World News Weekend, co-hosting NBC's NBA Inside Stuff, and serving as a correspondent for the Today Show and as a special correspondent for Bloomberg Television. Before joining USC, she was senior editor and senior strategic advisor at The Huffington Post, where she managed editorial content and oversaw the launch of more than a dozen news, business and lifestyle verticals. She joined USC Annenberg in 2014 as director of the School of Journalism, launching the Annenberg Media Center in Wallis Annenberg Hall and introducing the school's Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Master of Science in Journalism degree programs, before being named dean in 2017. As dean, she oversees nearly 300 faculty and staff and roughly 3,000 students across communication, journalism, public relations and public diplomacy programs, and has also served as interim dean of the USC School of Architecture. She is the author of Talking to Your Kids in Tough Times (2003) and co-author of a related book series.
